Jamil Gwamna, Sardaunan Gombe, is the managing director and co-founder
of Jamen Consultancy. He has extensive commercial and managerial
experience at the executive and board levels in the water industry,
heavy equipment distribution and manufacturing businesses. After
graduating from Ahmadu Bello University, Mr Gwamna started work
with the Nigerian Bank of Commerce and Industry in Abeokuta. He
switched from finance to industry, when he joined Kaduna Aluminium
Ltd and later Kaduna Machine Works as Group Chief Accountant. In
preparation for an executive position, Mr Gwamna was initially promoted
to Marketing Manager before being appointed managing director of
Kaduna Machine Works. In 1990 he left to manage his own business
- Amstrade Ventures Limited - a company which imports and sells
heavy-duty earth moving equipment. In 2000, he started working in
the utility sector when he accepted the position of the first Executive
Chairman of Gombe State Water Corporation. During his tenure, which
lasted until 2003, the Corporation started the Gombe Water Project
to extract and distribute water from the Dadin Kowa Dam. In 2004,
Sardaunan Gombe undertook a major research project, which involved
the economic analysis and evaluation of the privatisation options
used in UK utilities with a case study of British Rail. He has expertise
in the economic analysis and policy options associated with Public
Private Partnerships (PPP), Public Finance Initiatives (PFI) and
other approaches to privatising or commercialising state-owned enterprises.

Gambo Magaji is the chairman of Jamen Consultancy. He has over thirty
years executive, managerial and political experience in a variety
of senior posts at State and Federal Government levels as well as
a public corporation in Nigeria. In addition to being a graduate of
Ahmadu Bello University, Mr Magaji is also a product of the Administrative
Staff College, Nigeria and Australia Management College, Melbourne.
The breadth and depth of Mr Magaji’s distinguished Civil Service
career is evidenced in his rise from the post of assistant secretary
(political) in the North Eastern State Government, through various
posts in the Bauchi State government, to the position of Director
General, Federal Civil Service Commission. Among the numerous assignments
he carried out in the Civil Service, Mr Magaji’s involvement
as secretary of the Presidential Committee on the rationalisation
of federal ministries, extra-ministerial offices and statutory bodies,
sets him apart as one of the key individuals involved in the transformation
of public management and the restructuring of state enterprises in
Nigeria. He has extensive practical experience in the rationalisation,
commercialisation and privatisation of public enterprises. Outside
the Civil Service, Mr Magaji worked for five years as deputy general
manager (administration) in the Nigerian Mining Corporation during
which period he undertook a major internal reorganisation and rationalised
the tin industry on the Plateau. He is a member of various professional
bodies including fellowships of the Nigerian Mining and Geo-Sciences
Society, and the Nigerian Institute of Administrative Management.
As a practising management consultant, Mr. Magaji is a member of the
Institute of Management Consultancy. His current involvement in company
management includes positions as chairman or director of companies
engaged in port engineering, farming, publishing, banking and management
services.

Shehu Mairiga is a Director of Jamen Consultancy Limited based

He also earned an MBA from the same University in 1996.
Mr. Mairiga has a wide range of managerial and business experience
acquired over a period of almost twenty years. Specifically Mr.
Mairiga has worked in the public sector as an Internal Auditor
in the Bauchi State Government. His private sector experience
includes being the Finance and Accounts Manager at Nortex (Nigeria)
Ltd where he was also the Marketing Manager. He moved to Finetex
Limited as the General Manager for Accounts and Finance, where
his expertise and capability led to his appointment as the Managing
Director of Finetex Limited in 1997. The scope of the business
experience of Mr. Mairiga covers manufacturing, distribution and
retail in the textile industry. As a member of the Nigerian Institute
of Management, Mr. Mairiga has extensive network of contacts in
the consulting industry and serves on the board of six companies.

Bill Megginson is Professor and Rainbolt Chair in Finance at the
University of Oklahoma’s Michael F. Price College of Business.
He is also a voting member of the Italian Ministry of Economics
and Finance’s Global Advisory Committee on Privatisation and
Scientific Advisor for the Privatisation Barometer. Professor Megginson's
research interest has focused in recent years on the privatisation
of state-owned enterprises, especially those privatizations executed
through public share offerings. He has published refereed articles
in several top academic journals, including the Journal
of Economic Literature, the Journal of Finance,
and the Journal of Financial Economics, the Journal
of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and Foreign
Policy. His co-authored study documenting significant performance
improvements in recently privatised companies received one of two
Smith Breeden Distinguished Paper Awards for outstanding research
published in the Journal of Finance during 1994.
He is author or co-author of seven books including The Financial
Economics of Privatization, Oxford University Press, 2005. He has
also served as a privatisation consultant for New
York Stock Exchange, the OECD, the IMF, the World Federation of
Exchanges and the World Bank.
Dr. Megginson has a BS degree in chemistry from Mississippi College, an MBA
from Louisiana State University, and a Ph.D. in finance from Florida
State University. Professor Megginson has travelled extensively
outside the United States, both personally and professionally.
He has visited 57 countries during his lifetime, and has lived
in Spain, Pakistan, and Switzerland, in addition to the United
States. Prior to entering academia in 1986, he worked for five
years as a petroleum chemist at the world's largest styrene monomer
plant and at the largest independent petroleum refinery in the
United States.

Kojo Menyah is a co-founder and director of Jamen Consultancy with
educational background in Accounting, Management and Financial Economics.
He has undertaken a major assignment in the evaluation of public policy
for the United States Agency for International Development and a Marketing
Board in Africa. He has expertise in the economics of privatisation,
methods of privatisation, the pricing of new issues for flotation
on stock markets, value for money analysis and competition and regulatory
policies. As an analyst, he has extensive knowledge in the design
of corporate capital structures, valuation of businesses, impact of
fiscal policies on corporate actions and stock markets. The breadth
of Dr Menyah’s expertise is evidenced in his published research
in international journals on UK privatisation, African stock markets,
taxation and the pricing of UK equities, the market microstructure
of the London Stock Exchange, international cash management and the
costs of going public, among others. He has also organised training
courses in operational, currency and interest rate risk management,
corporate finance and governance and capital markets in the United
Kingdom. He offers his expertise in a wide range of areas to a UK
based charity in his capacity as a director of their operating company.
He has held leading positions in universities in Ghana, Canada and
the UK. Dr Menyah who is a graduate of the University of Ghana, Legon
and the University of Strathclyde is currently on the faculty of London
Metropolitan University as a Reader in Finance.

Krishna Paudyal has a background in finance and international and
monetary economics. He was actively involved in the foreign exchange
policy of Nepal through his work in the foreign exchange and research
departments of the Central Bank of Nepal. After completing another
MSc and a PhD at the University of Strathclyde in 1990, Dr Paudyal
was appointed Chief of the International Trade and Payments Division
(Research Department) of the Central Bank of Nepal. In 1993, Krishna
made a transition to academia at Glasgow Caledonian University.
The depth and breadth of his research publications and practical
expertise is evidenced in his meteoric rise to a full professorship
in 1996.
Dr Paudyal’s main areas of practical and research expertise
include market microstructure, corporate financial decisions, privatisation
and new security issues. He has extensive expertise in applied econometrics
and other statistical data analysis. He has published over 30 research
papers in highly rated international journals such as Journal
of Banking and Finance, Journal of International
Money and Finance, Journal of Financial Research
and Journal of Business Finance and Accounting. His contributions
to the Finance profession have been recognised internationally.
In 1996 he received the Global Expectations Research Competition
award (third place with his co-authors) for one of his papers. A
recent published research ranks him 17th finance academic in Europe
and 8th in the UK. His profile is recorded in Who’s Who in
the World (2003). Dr Paudyal is currently a Professor of Finance
at the University of Durham Business School where he is the Director
of the Centre for Empirical Research in Finance as well as the Director
of the PhD programme. He has extensive experience in training managers.
